Hawkstar had been hunting. The rabbits were getting a little fatter, the snow was melting, and the prey was coming out of its burrows a little more. She was carrying a rabbit in her jaws, taking it back to camp, when she passed a clump of bushes. The hidden pond..., Hawkstar thought. I wonder... She dropped her rabbit just outside the bushes, and pushed through them. She looked just ahead of her, where the hidden pond was. Last time she saw this pond, it was completely frozen over, in the dead of leafbare. Now, the ice was cracked, and it was beginning to melt. On an impulse, Hawkstar reared up on her hind legs and came down with her front paws on the pond. The ice broke even more, and she scraped it away with a paw. Newleaf will be coming soon... Hawkstar thought, smiling to herself. She picked up her rabbit again, and continued on her way back to camp.
